“Oyuncağın Bir Asrı sergisi ziyaretçileri tarihin derinliklerine götürüyor” – Son Dakika Türkiye Haberleri

Arabahmet Culture House in the capital Nicosia hosts the exhibition “A Century of Toys”, featuring a selection from the collection of Nazar Erişkin and Halil Duranay, including more than 150 toys played by children between 1850-1950.

The exhibition, which includes original toys produced in different historical periods and geographies such as the Ottoman Empire, the Weimar Republic (Germany), the United Kingdom, Italy, America, and Japan, offers visitors the chance to get acquainted with nostalgic toys from different cultures.

Öykü Öremen, visiting the exhibition with her father, expressed her understanding of how children played in the past with toys and games, saying “I found the old toys better than the ones we played with”.

Enver Öremen mentioned that he brought his daughter to the exhibition to see authentic toys, and he was impressed by many of them being handmade and made of natural materials. Halil Duranay, the co-owner of the collection with his wife Nazan Erişkin, stated that they opened the exhibition to provide visitors with a space where they can enjoy and be happy away from the stressful agenda. Duranay said, “My wife and I have been working for 12 years to collect this collection. We gathered this collection from many different cultures and periods of history. When we opened the exhibition, we also wanted to experience the joy of sharing our collection with other people.”.

The exhibition will be open for visit until March 9th.
